9/22/07 03:06 pm - Guilt!
In Tempest Records in Birmingham, I was looking for some records to purchase while simultaneously trying to remember the names of artists I was interested in checking out. Jawbreaker was one band I had remembered to look for, but then quickly forgot when I saw the price tags on their albums. This process went on for a while.
Finally, I settled on buying the Jesu album "Conqueror" - it's not about the game of Conkers, I realised - and Earth's "Hex", both albums I hadn't heard yet and had wanted for a while. I took those CD's up to the counter, nodding my head at the cool music playing overhead and met the gaze of one of the stores employees, who started to ring them up. I asked what was playing over the speakers. He held up Jesu and said "this one", and proceeded to eject the CD - stopping the music, funnily enough - and placed it into the case. "Gonna be a while before we get that back in" he said as I typed in my PIN.
"Sorry mate" I sheepishly said as I walked out the store, feeling pretty darn low.
I'm listening to the CD now, and its making me feel worse. But hey; he knew the risk when he took the job. He knew this thing could have happened anytime, and should have planned ahead in time for this. That CD didn't belong to him, it was stock for sale. But still...
Everytime I listen to this in future, I'm going to see his forlorn face...
But then I remember the price of the Jawbreaker album.
...
Screw that jerk!
